I finally met the legendary
Mia's Dad (who I've added to my links list) last night, playing a $5+$1 SNG with him and
Rosie at
InterPoker last night. I'd read a lot about Mia's Dad on both Rosie's and
Juice's blog over the last few weeks and had been very intrigued as to who he was. Anyway, as with most other bloggers, he had a pretty solid game and put in a solid performance. Personally, I found myself put on semi-tilt by a piranha, and re-raised to go all in with AKo on a 922 board. I was convinced that the piranha had nothing and that my 6 outs were good, with sufficient pot odds. However, I failed to hit my overpair and was beaten by J9o. Nice.
Other than that, my weekend trying to keep my friend Mad Josie occupied. Her husband was doing some campaigning for the Lib Dems, so we went for a nice pub lunch in The Hope, got lost in Clapham Common, had a nice steak for dinner, and then met up with some friends at Arch 635 and the notorious Swan in Stockwell. It was quite interesting hearing about Young Chris's political activities. He has planned out the next four years of his life, aiming to stand as an MP in the next General Elections. In order to accomplish this, he's done a lot of community work, and is constantly campaigning through leaflet drops and speaking to people about the Lib Dem views. I'd never imagined that politics was such a long term or risky game. If he fails to get elected in the next round then it'll almost be as if he's wasted 4 years of his life. Mad Josie put this risk down to the inate gambling instinct that is present in many men.
