Why are Poker Bots banned?

I was reading this interesting story on poker bots and wondered why Poker rooms ban bots? Plenty of confident players would be happy to play against them as they'd move faster and (potentially) act more predictably.

Personally, I'd like to write a limit poker bot, just to see if it could beat the game. Perhaps the Poker Rooms could allow bots, but force them to identify themselves as bots (via avatars and/or aliases such as "BOT:The Edge") to other players. This way, players would only play against bots if they were happy with it. Poker rooms could also limit Poker bots to certain rooms, and possibly limit the number of bots that can sit down at a single table.

I'd be interested to know what other bloggers think of this. I remember reading something on Sirfwalgman's blog about a Poker bot project but don't know how far he got with it.

Im a lazy fuck. Does that answer your question? heh. I think a limit bot would be profitable at certain levels because 1/2 and 2/4 and even 3/6 poker playing a solid ABC game you can win money.
