Preparing for Vegas

This will probably be my last post before Las Vegas. I'll be there next weekend as I have a week of road tripping around San Francisco first. Should be good fun.

Went to visit my pro poker mate, Mr Welsh, this morning. He recommended I look at this list to find some poker rooms to play at. The Bellagio is the big Mecca so I might try some cash limit games there. I'll also try out some $40 buy in poker tournaments. We tried to install the betfair historical data application onto Welsh's machine but it was a real nightmare. For some reason, his version of mySQL didn't like numbers enclosed in quotes ("'s). I therefore had to do a load of messy type casts, but it all worked in the end. While I'm losing money in Vegas, Mr Welsh will be working on some stat arb models that will hopefully make us some coin from football (initially) and horse racing (later).

My speed dating mate got her rape alarm yesterday. I mentioned to Rosie that I was concerned about a friend and had bought the alarm off ebay, but Rosie was not impressed!

While I'm away, new readers to my Texas Calculatem blog could check out my favourite blogs:

My nerd score was 14. Of which of course, I am quite proud

Saw your comment somewhere else recapping the trip. $2/4 is probably the lowest limit in Vegas, although off the beaten path you might be able to find something. Good luck if you play in San Francisco. There should still be a good crowd with the tourney going on.
