Uncertain results
Juice and myself just spent 2 hours, at Ladbrokes Poker, whinging about our losses and criticising each others' play. However, most of this appeared to be ignored by the other players - either because they were too polite to mock the fish or because they weren't reading our rantings.
Overall I was up $3 and Juice scratched the session. Nothing spectacular. And I'm not sure if pretending to be a fish was worth the effort.
The latest Piranha to be wary of is HaHFan.

New Experiment
We've been tapping the aquarium a little too much lately so I'm pretending to be a fish by complaining about my losses and telling everyone at the table how I just need one winning session to make it all back.
Wish me luck!

Piranha gets eaten by the sharks
I had a slow Poker session with Juice last night. It was all hold'em fold'em for the first hour and a half, and I was getting annoyed by the piranha _Groo_, who was up $15 through aggressive play.
He was buying my blinds, but when all you have is Q3o, there's no point protecting yourself.
Later on, however, the cards returned. I had AA and capped pre-flop, hit an Ace, and was called all the way to the river. Hardly skills, but it more than offset the hold'em fold'em losses.
And my tight-aggressive play was rewarded by observing Juice taking _Groo_ to the cleaners. I wish it had been me but I just didn't have much to work with.
This morning I'm in the office, but it looks like the Juice is having a good morning. He cleaned out _Groo_ with A2o and kindly sent me a screenshot.

Bankroll Chart

Since stepping down a level my bankroll has produced a slow but steady return. Not particularly impressive, but my game has become more solid. As Juice says, I need to focus on my game, but it isn't easy.
Juice has come along way lately. After an initial beating, he has taken his bankroll through the $100 barrier using a simple yet effective strategy. It's nothing fancy. He's just read a lot of books on the subject and is applying straightforward statistics to the tables. It's a joy to behold.
In terms of psychological warfare, he's gaining quite a reputation, and is concerned that other players might start to fear him. For example, themagic (if you're reading this please say "hi" and leave a comment!), has told players to beware if he raises.
In order to combat this, I've been trying to put down lots of Juice's plays at the Poker table.

Poker Players don't have Friends, just revenue sources.
I haven't done much fishing this week. Juice pointed out that I'm too impatient and I've had no focus.
I went to look at a house in Clapham with my brother. Mortgage payments will be over £800 per month each if we buy. Not cheap. I need to step up the stakes or retire to take up an easier hobby.

I'm fishing
After a weekend away from the tables I'm having a quick session with Juice. I think I need to learn how to fold more.
peter_1 - strange fish
Mark and Anonymous were correct. The Piranha's are taking big hits. At time of writing Chippy777 has almost lost all of yesterday's gains.
With regards with my personal performance, I had an interesting hand against peter_1. The flop was capped with 3 players. I had AJo. The flop was J83 rainbow. I bet out. A rag hit. I bet on the turn and another rag landed. I therefore bet the river and peter_1 raised...
What did he have? I wondered. Well, there was no way I was going to fold. And I was too vulnerable for a raise. So I make a crying call.
What did peter_1 reveal? High card Ace, with A7o as his hole cards. What the fuck was he thinking?

A new dangerous species of fish!
I have discovered a new dangerous species of fish. They shall be described as piranhas from now on.
Piranha's see over 70% of flops. However, they do not lose money! This goes against all conentional wisdom, and I've had to do some further analysis to discover the cause.
One piranha that I was playing earlier was Chippy777. He saw over 95% of flops during the session. And always bet aggressively in the face of any weakness. He even brow beated me into folding a couple of stronger hands before I caught onto his game!
The 3 piranhas in my database are Chippy777, Maraspen and Lueeze22. If you encounter any of these dangerous adverseries then keep it tight, try to isolate, and then call down. Don't let them bully you, but at the same time try not to get caught in a raising war.7
Good luck!

New Service: Little Yellow Moon Face

I am now offering a service, to select readers, to get certain niche key phrases inserted into the Google search engine.
For example, I am now trying to get Google to return my
Little Yellow Moon Face page in the number one spot of a
Google Search.
If you would like to take up this service then you must sponsor a cat first.
Please also note that success is not guaranteed, refunds are not provided, and that I reserve the right to refuse commercial requests. This service is only really there for playing pranks on mates.
Donations Please
Dear readers,
I've added a Paypal donations button to the top right of my blog. It's there for you to make donations to this site, should you wish to.
Any donations will be used for:
- feeding the fish. If we scare them off then there'll be no more poker profits
- sponsoring cats. Cats like fish, but if we feed them well then maybe they'll spend less time prowling at the aquariums.
- help me keep up with Juice... Juice is moving up the levels soon, but I might not be able to as he's a full time pro and I'm not.
Ninety Percenters
I started two-tabling along with Juice tonight. It's a lot more frantic but forced me to concentrate more. I also found that it made me think of reasons to fold, rather than call, which is a good thing.
Looking at the stats I found some astoundingly loose players. The following players saw over 90% of flops in my hand sample. I have over 50 hands for each of them.

Fish for today
I'm playing at Ladbrokes Poker again. The fish at my table are Archoink and Mr_Analyst. They have a SF% of over 50%. Unfortunately the other players are fairly tight.

EddieC84 - angry player
This guy is probably the angriest player I've ever met.
He 3-bet pre-flop with AKo. The flop was KJ8 rainbow with 4 players.
Despite the coordinated board he capped the flop. I was sensible and folded my QQ as I was getting poor odds.
EddieC84 then proceeded into a rage as he was rivered and DieLekkerOu rivered him to hit a straight. He ranted about how fixed limit is such a poor game as people will call you down with anything. Players with such a low understanding of the game are our bread and butter.
As I said earlier, passive play is required at micro-limit fixed limit poker.

Strategy Modifications
While Small Stakes Hold'Em is an excellent book, I've had to modify my strategy to be more passive than its recommendation.
It has been read by a lot of people at various Poker Forums, and these players complain about stuff like "The Fish Won't Fold!". Well if the fish won't hold, it means that you need to make sure you have a damn strong hand before you cap the betting. And when 4 players see the flop with poor hand selections, you should know that when 22x hits the flop then a raise on the flop probably indicates someone hit a set.
Anyway, I'm down a little sofar today due to missed cards, but I'm sure my patience will pay off when I hit that big hand.

Let's go fishing at Ladbrokes Poker
I've just played at the fishiest table imaginable. It was at Ladbrokes Poker, $0.10/$0.20. People were cold calling pre-flop raises with hands like 48 offsuit and betting aggressively with bottom pair. I really don't know what they were thinking.
Anyway, you guys don't want to hear of my glory, you want to go fishing for yourselves.
Using my limited Poker Office database I've produced this list of loose players at Ladbrokes Poker $0.10/$0.20. The first column shows their aliases, the 2nd is the # hands that I have for them in my database, and the last is their SawFlop%. For example, Ryoung61 played 98% of the 50 hands that I have for him in my database.
Ryoung61 50 98
Thornbak 51 76.47
