Found a big cat!
Thanks to my mate Jeinsen I've now found a place that will let me sponsor a cat. The place is called
Big Cat Rescue. I'll post an update when I've chosen a cat.
The Sharks and the Fishes
I have used Poker Office to collect statistics from Coral Poker and Empire Poker. Both are Party Poker skins, and readers can therefore use the information from this post at Coral Poker, Empire Poker, or any other Poker room that is a skin of Party Poker.
In this post, I shall list the best and worst players to have been monitored by Poker Office on my personal computer. For simplicity's sake, I have defined the "best" players as those with the highest $Won/Hand, and "worst" players as the opposite. Readers can therefore try to seek out the "fish" (weak players) and avoid the "sharks" (strong players) to give them an edge.
Please note, that the data is only from $0.50/$1.00 fixed limit tables. Also, I have only included players for which I have atleast 300 hands of data.

Analysis of Saw Flop % against $Won/Hand using Poker Office
Poker Office provides many useful statistics. I shall start a small project to analyse some of these statistics using data collected from Empire Poker $0.50/$1.00 fixed limit tables.
The first thing I shall analyse is the relationship between SawFlop% and $Won/Hand. SawFlop% represents the percentage of flops that an individual player has seen. $Won/Hand represents the average amount won per hands played.
The last time I performed this analysis I set 200 hands as the minimum and didn't find any results. This time I have filtered the data to only show data for players for whom I have atleast 500 hands. The results should therefore be more significant.
Below is the chart. It is a plot of $Won/Hand against sawFlop%.

There are 17 players in the data sample. The correlation is positive at 0.61. And the Pearson correlation coefficient is 0.68. This suggests that there is a significant correlation between the two variables. i.e. Loose players tend to win more than tight players!!!!
This result against all popular wisdom. However, a closer look at the chart shows that the loosest player represented has a sawFlop% of 36%. Perhaps the tighter players are too weak? And it would be interesting to see the $Won/Hand statistics for players with sawFlop%'s greater than 40%.
I shall continue to gather statistics using Poker Office and will present further findings at a later date.
Poker Office plans
The cat people refused to be associated with my Poker blog - so I have no cat to sponsor. I don't have time to do anymore web searching, so unless one of my kind readers can recommend a good UK based cat sponsorship organisation that will
a - let me sponsor via Paypal
b - let me put a picture of the cat on this blog
the plan for sponsoring a cat will be put on hold indefinitely.
In terms of Poker, the main buddy I've been playing with has retired. The other has progressed to Pot Limit, but I don't really want to progress down that route as I won't be able to take the stress. My personal Poker development was put on hold when I stepped down a few levels, so I should go back to the $0.25/$50 and $0.50/$1.00, and also continue my Poker Office analysis.
In my last post regarding Poker Office stats, there appeared to be no correlation between % Flops Seen and $Won per hand. However, I may have been using too small a sample. I have therefore been leaving Poker Office to gather stats from Empire Poker and Coral Poker $0.50/$1.00 tables for several hours at a time. When I have atleast 500 hands of stats for 50 players I'll produce some charts and post them here.
Oh - still need to tidy up my Calculatem guide as a reader had some queries a few weeks ago and I still haven't got round to responding. Many apologies to you all!
No replies from the Cat Sponsor People!
Still awaiting email replies from the cat people. I'll have to wait I suppose. In the mean time I've already created a page for our future cat mascot:
Sponsor a CatI am also considering sponsoring a child as well:
Sponsor an African ChildIn terms of Poker I've lost all discipline and am getting robbed. I kept on raising with 38o on Tuesday. I need to take another break to calm down.
More Moggy links
tHREAt kindly sent me some cat sponsorship links, and I've found a few more of my own.
Hopefully I'll have found a suitable little kitty from my end of the
world by next week. I live in the
United Kingdom but most online cat places seem to be based in
North America. Until I settle down with my own
Family it's unlikely that I'll get my own pet. And cats make me sneeeze regardless of any
Medicines that I take. Oh well.
Please feel free to peruse the links below if you'd like to sponsor your own cat.
-
Cats Protection North Herts do not take Paypal
-
Adopt A Cat Foundation accept Paypal but not in UK.
-

Based in Basildon, UK They require a minimum payment of £12. That's more than this website has brought in so far! I've sent them an email to negotiate!

Searching for a cat to sponsor
Despite there being so many
Cool Sites on the Internet, I've only found two cat sponsorship resources so far. Unfortunately I'm not too sure if either accepts Paypal. And the second place wants a minimum of $20 a month. That will leave me with a bit of trouble covering my hosting fees.

Sponsoring Cats, totally off topic
I made a few dollars from the advertising on this site last month. The dollars are accumulating in Paypal and I really can't be bothered to withdraw. I'm therefore thinking of using them to sponsor a
cat.
Unfortunately cat sponsorship sites are hard to find via google and I have a useless phone manner and will therefore not call any phone numbers.
So if any of you dedicated readers could help me out (I know there are about 10 returning visitors a day!) I'm searching for a cat sponsorship scheme that will let me:
- donate about £5 or $10 a month via Paypal
- will regularly email me pictures of our sponsored moggy to put on this site.
Please let me know if you can help me with my search.
Poker Office Update
Poker office now has beta version tracking for a few new sites including:
- Ladbrokes
- Prima Network
After my killing at Coral I might move my Poker Office Statistical Analysis project to Royal vegas (Prima Network). However, the problem with doing that is that I'm half way through the bonus at Coral and get rakeback there.

Too busy for Poker
I have not played much Poker in the last week due to other commitments.
The only group session I managed was a short 2 hour game at Royal Vegas Poker on Monday, but it was mostly uninspirational as I was concentrating on some coding rather than the Poker game.
When I get some time I'll try to answer mwilding1981's query regarding my
Calculatem tutorial.
I also need to continue my Poker Office analysis.
Hmmm... This post is more of a personal todo list. But I've typed it and may as well post I guess. Met an interesting girl the other day, but she had a boyfriend, who she claimed was a trader involved in the
citigroup bond trading scandal.
