Speed tables at Ladbrokes Poker

Juice and myself tried a low limit speed table at Ladbrokes Poker last night. Speed tables allow players only 10 seconds to make their moves.

It was loose and furious, frequently with over 5 players seeing the flop. There was also a maniac called Keba who'd raise with anything and cap each street with no pair and no draws. However, playing such a poor player was a little disheartening, as

1 - it's nice to think that the fish are getting entertainment value for the liquidity that we provide
2 - someone who loses so badly is less likely to come back
3 - there aren't enough players like that.

Anyway, I think these (new?) Ladbrokes Poker speed tables could be the way forward as;

- the "speed" factor will encourage impatient players who'll make mistakes
- the low thinking time will cause less experienced players to make mistakes

Just checking something Mr Edge as I had a few smokes last night!

When I had top pair v you and you had flush draw did you say that at 1.9-1 you were getting the right pot odds to call but only the rake stopped you?

From memory was it not just the river card to come meaning your flush was just over a 5-1 shot?

Please clarify cos it bugged me last night and stopped me sleeping.( for 5 mins anyway)

Mr Acorn,

I had 6,7 clubs. Board had 5,8,K - two of which were clubs.

On the turn I missed.

There were 9 cards to complete my flush. 6 (non club) cards to complete my straight. So that's 15 outs.

With 46 cards remaining I was getting 46/15-1 : 1 = 2:1 to improve my hand. I was using Poker Office for that estimate, and that gave me 1.9. Maybe it counted 1 extra out somewhere? Anyway, the pot odds presented by the bet were also 1.9.

So taking rake into account, calling your bet wasn't really worth it.

The Edge.

Thanks Mr Edge.I didn't realise you had an open ended str8 draw too.

Poker office probably had me chasing a bit more than usual last night. But if the odds are right theres nothing wrong with that.

I'll stick at it for the full 300 hands and let you know what I think.
