Swings and Roundabouts. Reader feedback requested.

It's been swings and roundabouts this weekend. I'm marginally down overall. My strategy has been pretty consistent with what it's been over the last few weeks. But I feel I've been punished with incorrect play in marginal situations where the statistical/psychological arguments don't agree.

So I guess I'm going to have to throw out the argument to you guys and see what you have to say...

Suppose I'm in the big blind with ThTs. 4 players call including the small blind. I raise. And they all call. That's 10 small blinds in the pot.

The flop is As8c4d.

So I have a pair above mid pair. And there are no straight or flush possibilities. The small blind checks. What should I do?

I'd assume with 4 callers someone could have an A but I'd lead out on the flop to see where I was.Any raises I'm gone.In fact In I don't think I'd raise with 1010 from the BB.Check and hope to hit a set.

Of course at a passive NL table I'd raise 5 * bb if there were 4 limpers and hope to take it there and then.

A lot depends on the way the table and your individual opponents are playing I suppose.

good luck
